As a student learning Chinese I spent many hours reviewing flash cards. Using flash cards was a great help to me then, and even after more than 20 years of study I still find this type of review useful. During my graduate studies I developed software that would duplicate the flash card-type of learning experience.

At Liwin we have continued along the same path, working for many years on software tools to assist Chinese language learners. We have targeted beginning language learners with products like Pinyin Master, and CyberChinese-Online. This flash card activity is an effort to provide similar software solutions to fit the needs of a wider variety of Chinese language learners.

While learners can choose to review vocabulary from beginning textbooks like Conversational Mandarin Chinese Online, Integrated Chinese, and Practical Chinese Reader, we have also included the Chinese government's 常用字(2500字) (most common 2500 characters), and vocabulary compiled by HSK Flashcards, which covers all levels of the 汉语水平考试 Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi. All vocabulary items can be viewed using your choice of simplified, or traditional characters.
